AbouT Joan Olivella
ARTIST PHOTOGRAPHER FROM BARCELONA BASED IN SITGES
My relationship with photography started when I was a teenager. My growing interest for music made me discover the artwork concept behind vinyl sleeves. Gradually, I became more and more interested in all the technical aspects and suddenly I found myself looking for a place to get trained. I borrowed a Leicaflex SL2 camera from my uncle and this is how I started taking pictures of friends and lovers. Developing them in the darkroom and witnessing how they come to life is one of the greatest pleasures you can experience. In retrospect, I’m extremely proud to have been trained in analogue photography and have experienced the irruption of digital photography in our society.
