Often, when I take a picture, I do a bit of a disappearing trick myself. I imagine it having been taken by somebody else. This is a strategy for keeping things fresh. There is always somebody else you can invoke. You can put a mask and a cloak as you are taking a photograph, and it takes away a lot of anxiety. It frees you up. You discover as you get through it wasn’t another photographer, it was yours.
